Realistic thinking is that evidence is in real results of the individual patient ie personalised medicine. Other ‘alternative’ or natural biological options are usually discounted purely for lacking clinical trials. In general this is the case and of high standard we presume and strive for. The Western model is based on highest level of evidence of benefit and safety conformed from large clinical trials. The goal for all should be to achieve best outcome with least harm. For this, he was awarded the third highest honor in Lions International. He coordinated a record number of Lions Quest Educational Workshops in cooperation with WVU and Marshall. He received several high honors in Lions, including the Leonard Jarrett award for continued support of the West Virginia Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation. On a district level, he served as Zone Chairman and Region Chairman. He was a charter member and past president of the East Lewis Lions club. After retiring from education, he remained active in farming and was a member of the Lewis County Farm Bureau. He was a member and past president of the Lewis County Former Teachers, member of the Retired School Employees, both local and state levels, and was active in other civic and community affairs. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, National Education Honorary. He was a life member of the West Virginian Wesleyan Emeritus Club, the WVU Alumni Association, and the Glenville State College Alumni Association. In post-graduate work this was expanded to include a Masters plus forty-five. in educational administration from West Virginia University in 1961. ![]() He attended Glenville State College for two years, then went to West Virginia Wesleyan and graduated in 1940. Reeder graduated from Weston High School in 1935. Early in his career he taught for five years in Upshur County. His career spanned forty-five years as a teacher, principal, and substitute. He retired from Lewis County Schools in 1980 with his last position being at Weston Central Elementary. He served as church school superintendent and held numerous other offices in Methodist church work. ![]() Reeder was a life-long Methodist and a member of the church on Buckhannon Run. Four great-grandsons survive: Brayden Jones, Nathaniel and David Jones and Kristofer Jones. Eight great-granddaughters survive: Kennedy, Katie, and Emily Reeder Josette, Sophie, and Sabrina George and Whitney Jones and Emma Jones. Mark (Susan) Reeder of Tipp City, Ohio, Marcia (Don) George of Independence, Ohio, Matthew (Teri) Jones of Parkersburg, Jonathan (Brittany) Jones of Cincinnati, Ohio, and two step-grandsons, Richard (Lori) Jones of Parkersburg and Duane (Melissa) Jones of Harrisville. He is survived by four grandchildren: Dr. ![]() Surviving are one son, Randall (Margaret) Reeder, of Columbus, Ohio and one daughter, Helen Jones of Harrisville. He was born in Lewis County on March 17, 1918, son of Albert Jerome and Brenice McKinney Reeder. His wife of sixty-six years, Hazel Lowther Reeder preceded him in death, on August 23, 2007. William Howard Reeder, age 99, of the Berlin Community (Buckhannon Run Road) died August 25, 2017.
